Radio Is My Bomb: A DIY Manual For Pirates (1987)

Stored on libcom.org (“a resource for all people who wish to fight to improve
their lives, their communities and their working conditions”) alongside such
greats as Steal This Book by Abbie Hoffman and Government In The Future by Noam
Chomsky, we found this treasure worth shouting out.

Published by Hooligan Press in London in 1987, Radio Is My Bomb: A DIY Manual
For Pirates is a wonderfully dated guide to pirate broadcasting. Mostly aimed
at activists it covers everything from laws (including going to court and
getting gear back), existing stations, equipment and basic ethics to name but a
few parts in it’s 72 pages.

The information may be mostly redundant, but as a behind the scenes snapshot of
a period, and a beacon for London’s DIY radio scene, it’s certainly worth
looking at. Possibly even worth printing and binding as a Christmas present for
Secret Santa in your squat.
