I recognized this phenomenon immediately when I read the piece, and it's something I've never managed (though I've not tried hard) to explain very well before. I am frequently guilty of this exact kind of unproductive attempt to be helpful in my own email communication, though.

Even though this is something I'm unlikely to purchase, I'm really excited by this because it means that they think proton (their wine fork, from which they generally contribute back to upstream) is good enough for non techies to use.
That's a positive thing for Linux.
If you can run a general desktop environment on this with an external keyboard and monitor, this might be something I'd consider as a gift for my son on his tenth birthday.
